Player Bio
Luca Moretti is a versatile and hard‑working forward for the Parramatta Eels, capable of playing through the middle or on an edge. Born in Randwick and a Clovelly Crocodiles junior, Moretti progressed through schoolboy rugby at Waverley College, where he also excelled in rugby union, before entering the Eels system.
He made his NRL debut in Round 13, 2023, playing against the North Queensland Cowboys in Parramatta’s 24–16 victory. His impressive development saw him voted Parramatta’s NSW Cup Player of the Year at the 2023 Ken Thornett Medal presentation, signalling his readiness for regular first grade.
In the 2024 season, Moretti featured in 12 NRL games, continuing to establish himself as a reliable member of the Eels’ forward rotation. He backed that up with another 12 appearances in 2025, earning praise for his work rate, defence and consistency. This form was rewarded in January 2025, when Parramatta re‑signed him on a contract extension through to the end of the 2027 season.
Moretti has also represented Italy on the international stage, qualifying through his heritage. He debuted during the 2021 Rugby League World Cup (played in 2022), helping Italy to a 28–4 win over Scotland in the opening round.
Standing 188 cm and weighing 102 kg, Moretti is known for his strong defensive output, regularly achieving above 92% tackle efficiency and his ability to contribute solid metres through the middle. As of 2025, he has played 33 NRL games, scoring two tries, and continues to grow as a valuable asset for the Eels both on and off the field.
