Player Bio

James Schiller is a dynamic outside back currently playing for the Newcastle Knights, where he has quickly made an impact since joining the club ahead of the 2025 NRL season. Schiller began his professional career with the Canberra Raiders, making his NRL debut in Round 1 of the 2022 season against the Cronulla‑Sutherland Sharks. Over three seasons with Canberra (2022–2024), he played 15 games and scored 9 tries, including a standout double in the 2023 elimination final against Newcastle.

In 2025, Schiller moved to Newcastle, becoming Knight #354 and immediately showcased his finishing ability, scoring two tries in Round 2 as part of a 26–12 win over the Dolphins. He went on to score 8 tries in 17 matches during his first season with the club. Schiller is contracted with the Knights until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Hailing from a rich rugby league family, Schiller is the nephew of Raiders great Brett Mullins, cousin of Knights forward Jack Hetherington, and grandson of Eastern Suburbs legend Bill Mullins. a lineage that reflects his natural footballing instincts and athletic DNA.

With speed, aerial ability and defensive competitiveness, he continues to develop into a reliable and exciting strike option for Newcastle.
