Player Bio
Max Plath is an energetic and skilful young forward for the Dolphins, capable of playing lock, hooker, or on an edge. A Wynnum Manly Seagulls junior and Brisbane local, Plath made his NRL debut in Round 14 of the 2023 season against the New Zealand Warriors, becoming one of the club’s early emerging talents.
Across the 2024 season, Plath established himself as a key member of the Dolphins’ forward rotation, playing 21 games, scoring four tries, and showcasing elite defensive output with a tackle efficiency above 94%. He delivered several standout performances, including a two‑try effort in Round 7 of 2024 during a dominant win over Parramatta.
In 2025, Plath added another eight NRL appearances and continued his growth as a consistent middle forward. His progression and value to the club saw the Dolphins extend his contract twice, first to 2026 and again in February 2025, securing him until the end of the 2028 season.
Before reaching first grade, Plath impressed in the Hostplus Cup, playing for both the Wynnum Manly Seagulls and Redcliffe Dolphins, scoring 16 tries in 32 reserve‑grade games, and also representing Queensland Under‑19s.
The son of former Brisbane Broncos utility John Plath, Max combines work ethic, football IQ, and versatility, qualities that have quickly made him a favourite among coaches and teammates.
