Player Bio

Jaxen Edgar is an electrifying young fullback for the Penrith Panthers, distinguished by his speed, agility, and natural attacking instincts. He made his NRL debut in Round 26 of the 2025 season against the Canterbury‑Bankstown Bulldogs, entering the match late after Penrith were struck by a double concussion.

A product of the Penrith development system, Edgar has long been considered one of the Panthers’ brightest emerging talents. His junior achievements include being named the 2023 NSWRL Harold Matthews Player of the Year and selection in the Australian Schoolboys team, major honours that highlighted him as one of the nation’s standout prospects.

Edgar continued his rise through Penrith’s ranks with a strong 2024 Jersey Flegg campaign, where he played 19 games, scored 12 tries, and added 2 try assists, demonstrating his consistent impact in attack. In 2025, he added three more Flegg appearances and two tries, further reinforcing his readiness for senior football.

Following his NRL debut and continued development at state level, Penrith rewarded Edgar with a Top 30 promotion and contract extension until at least the end of 2028, signalling the club’s belief that he is a genuine long‑term contender for the No.1 jersey.
