Craig Fitzgibbon is the highly respected head coach of the Cronulla‑Sutherland Sharks, leading the club since 2022 and establishing himself as one of the NRL’s most effective modern coaches. A former international forward with a distinguished playing career, Fitzgibbon brought to Cronulla a reputation for professionalism, elite standards, and a defensive system renowned across the competition.
Before moving into coaching, Fitzgibbon enjoyed an exceptional NRL career spanning more than a decade. A premiership winner with the Sydney Roosters in 2002, he earned the Clive Churchill Medal for his standout performance in the Grand Final and represented both New South Wales and Australia across multiple seasons. His career totals include over 300 first‑grade games in the NRL and Super League combined, along with extensive representative honours.
After retiring from playing, Fitzgibbon transitioned seamlessly into coaching. He spent more than ten years as an assistant at the Roosters, contributing to their premiership successes in 2013, 2018 and 2019 while developing a reputation as one of the game’s most prepared and intelligent young coaches. He also coached NSW Country during this period, further strengthening his leadership credentials.
Since taking charge of Cronulla, Fitzgibbon has guided the Sharks to consistent finals appearances and one of the strongest win percentages in the club’s history. His coaching approach, built around discipline, unity, defence and player development, has been widely praised by players and analysts, helping elevate emerging talent and rejuvenate senior careers within the squad. As of 2026, Fitzgibbon holds a win percentage of roughly 63% in more than 100 games with the Sharks, placing him among the NRL’s top-performing coaches.
