Player Bio

Richard Agar is an experienced English rugby league coach with an extensive resume across Super League, international football, and high‑performance development. Over more than two decades in the sport, he has held senior coaching roles with York City Knights, Hull FC, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, and the Leeds Rhinos, where he led the club to Challenge Cup success and oversaw a period of significant player development.

Agar has also coached at international level, serving as head coach of France between 2013 and 2015, guiding the national side through the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. Later, he held a coaching role with Toa Samoa, adding further representative experience to his already diverse career.

After departing Leeds in 2022, Agar moved into the NRL system, joining St George Illawarra as Head of Player Pathways before taking up an assistant coaching position with the New Zealand Warriors. He joined the Warriors ahead of the club’s Las Vegas season‑opener and is part of the staff supporting head coach Andrew Webster. Agar is contracted on a multi‑year deal, bringing his extensive leadership, tactical knowledge, and development expertise to the Warriors’ program.
