Player Bio

Anne‑Marie Kiria‑Ratu is a powerful, tough and highly promising edge forward for the Cronulla‑Sutherland Sharks, rising rapidly through the club’s pathways to become a key member of their NRLW squad. Originally signed to the Sharks’ Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team, she made the leap to first grade far earlier than expected after impressing coaches with her work ethic, physicality, and resilience.

Her NRLW opportunity arrived in Round 4 of the 2025 season, where she made her debut against the Wests Tigers and immediately held her own at the top level. From there, Kiria‑Ratu cemented her spot in Cronulla’s 17, playing nine NRLW games across the season and showcasing her strength as a hard‑running second‑rower with a relentless defensive motor. Her season highlight came in the playoffs, where she scored a crucial try in a knockout semifinal win over the Cowboys.

A proud Cook Islands international, Kiria‑Ratu’s performances earned her a call‑up for the Pacific Championships, a deserved reward after overcoming significant injury setbacks earlier in her career. She has battled through multiple ACL ruptures, showing impressive determination to work her way back to elite performance, a resilience widely praised by Sharks coaching staff.

Anne‑Marie’s journey is made even more meaningful by the opportunity to play alongside her older sister, Chantay Kiria‑Ratu, with whom she shares a close bond and a strong on‑field combination. Their move to Sydney and rise through Cronulla’s system together has become a defining part of both sisters’ stories.

After a breakout 2025 campaign, Kiria‑Ratu was rewarded with a new contract that keeps her at Cronulla through to at least the end of 2027, solidifying her place as a long‑term part of the club’s forward pack.
