Dylan Egan is a dynamic young second‑rower for the St George Illawarra Dragons, recognised for his relentless work ethic, defensive toughness, and strong ball‑carrying ability. A proud Gerringong Lions junior, Egan progressed through every stage of the Dragons’ pathways, including the Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg, and ultimately the NSW Cup.
In 2023, Egan captained the Illawarra Steelers SG Ball Cup side, showcasing his leadership and consistency. Later that year, he advanced to Jersey Flegg and made several NSW Cup appearances as his reputation continued to grow.
Egan made his NRL debut in Round 4 of the 2025 season against the Melbourne Storm at Jubilee Stadium, the same week he secured a two‑year contract extension keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2027. Coming off the bench, he delivered a standout debut, registering 34 tackles and four tackle breaks in 49 minutes, earning praise from coaches and teammates alike.
His 2024 NSW Cup campaign was a breakout year: Egan played all 24 games, scored seven tries, recorded 849 tackles (third-highest in the competition) at near 96% efficiency, and added 11 line breaks and 45 tackle breaks, confirming him as one of the Dragons’ most reliable and hardworking young forwards.
Although his rookie NRL season was later cut short by an ACL injury in Round 11, Egan remains firmly in the Dragons’ long‑term plans. Under contract through 2027, he is widely regarded as a future cornerstone of the Red V forward pack, bringing energy, resilience and a team‑first attitude every time he takes the field.
