Player Bio
Jesse Colquhoun is a promising and hard‑working forward for the Cronulla‑Sutherland Sharks in the NRL. Born in Wollongong and a proud Collegians junior, Colquhoun progressed through local pathways before joining the Sharks system as an SG Ball triallist. His talent was evident early, representing Edmund Rice College throughout high school and captaining the school’s Open Rugby League side in 2019, the same year he starred for NSWCCC with a try in their 44–0 win over NSWCHS at the Australian Schoolboys Championships.
Colquhoun made his NRL debut in Round 18, 2022, coming off the bench in a 26–12 win over the North Queensland Cowboys. Despite a challenging run of injuries, including consecutive foot fractures and a season‑ending ACL injury in 2024, he showed strong resilience, returning via Newtown Jets and earning his first NRL start as a back‑rower in Round 21, 2023 against Manly.
By 2025, Colquhoun had become a key fixture in Cronulla’s forward rotation, playing 18 games as the Sharks reached the preliminary final for the second straight year. His strong form and growing leadership saw the club reward him with a four‑year contract extension through to the end of the 2030 season, turning down interest from multiple rival clubs.
Off the field, Colquhoun was recognised in 2024 with the NRL Wellbeing & Education Excellence Award, acknowledging his dedication to personal development, education, and community impact.
With over 29 NRL appearances to his name and his best football still ahead, he continues to develop as a long‑term cornerstone of the Sharks’ forward pack.
