Player Bio

Tyran Wishart is a versatile and highly competitive playmaker for the Melbourne Storm, capable of covering hooker, halfback, and fullback. A natural utility with strong game sense and resilience, Wishart has become a valuable asset to Craig Bellamy’s squad. He is also the son of NSW and Australian legend Rod Wishart, continuing a proud family legacy in rugby league.

Wishart made his NRL debut in Round 1 of the 2022 season, earning Storm cap No. 220 in a victory over the Wests Tigers. His debut season was strong enough to see him awarded the Billy Slater Rookie of the Year Award for 2022.

He continued to develop across the 2023 season before taking a major leap in 2024, where he played all 26 Storm games, scored 12 tries, and featured in the 2024 NRL Grand Final in Melbourne’s clash with Penrith.

Wishart has also made an impact on the representative stage. He was selected for the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII in 2024, scoring a try on debut in the win over PNG, and again featured for the side in 2025.

In January 2026, it was officially announced that Wishart had signed a five‑year deal with the expansion club, the Perth Bears, commencing in the 2027 NRL season. Melbourne confirmed his departure with Wishart joining the Bears as one of their marquee foundation signings. His leadership, versatility and experience make him a cornerstone player for the Bears as they enter the competition.
